Ever wonder why bridesmaids have been rocking dresses in weddings for years? It’s no coincidence. Dresses come in styles that offer so much variety. Think about it: you can wear a dress and feel cute, elegant, or sexy. Not only that, dresses have a magical way of flattering all types of female figures.

Say Yes to the Dress!

A long, flowy dress brings a touch of romance and movement that looks incredible in engagement photos. Wearing a dress while twirling or walking looks even better paired with a natural backdrop outdoors — so let’s head to the ocean, forest, or mountains. Not a fan of a long dress? Shorter cocktail-length dresses and midi skirts look great on camera too.

I shot all of the images in this post for the one love photography team and I can’t tell you how pumped I was with the outfit styling. Sam’s terracotta dress looked amazing with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background, and her patterned romper, fuzzy sweater, and hat below were perfect for a cozy session at Lover’s Lane in San Francisco.

Shoes

When is the last time you had a reason to wear heels?! Dust them off and put them on! Heels and booties elongate the leg and give you a reason to stand tall and confident. Bring along a pair of flats or flip flops to change into while walking around.

Final Tip: Layer and accessorize your look.

Accessories and layers are simple addition that make a big impact! Adding them pulls your entire look together. I love scarves or jackets (think leather moto or denim). Additional show-stopping accessories to include: earrings, a necklace, and/or a hat!
